Randi Zuckerberg, the sister of CEO Mark Zuckerberg, is said to be leaving Facebook after six years after returning from maternity leave. In her massage for the Facebook team, Randi said she is thankful to the strong mentor-ship and guidance she received at Facebook. She said I want to show that you don’t have to be an engineer to become a successful hacker.

Randi who had led Facebook’s consumer marketing team, is leaving to start her own company called RtoZ Media. Facebook says the company is “grateful for her important service.”

Few details are currently available but it is rumored that the venture will likely build on Zuckerberg’s work at Facebook. Randi was responsible for some very big projects such as Facebook Presidential Primary Debate, ABC & Facebook Live Election Night Coverage in 2010 and Davos/Facebook partnership. According to some of the social media experts, this resignation may allow Randi to work indirectly with some of the other social media giants such as twitter and may be Google Plus.

Carolyn Everson, vice president of global advertising sales and trade marketing for Microsoft, is leaving the company after just seven months. Everson was responsible for the multibillion dollar ad campaign for the launch of the Bing search engine.

Facebook confirmed Everson’s hiring yesterday, and noted that she will report to a former Google employee, David Fischer, Facebook’s vice president of advertising and global operations.

This move may make things a little awkward since Microsoft invested over 240 Million in Facbook back in 2007. Facebook released the following statement:

“Microsoft was one of our earliest partners and is still one of our most valued. We have a long and strong relationship that includes search ads on our site, a social layer on Bing search results, and a deep and popular integration with Xbox. They are a leader when it comes to unlocking the power of social for their already popular products and services. We look forward to continuing to expand our relationship with them.”

JPMorgan is planning on starting a Social Media Fund of between $500 million and $750 million to invest in internet and digital media companies. Marketing materials were already sent to prospective investors two weeks ago.

The move comes as interest in social networking sites is increasing. Investor interest and valuations are surging for privately held Web companies like Facebook, Twitter, Zynga and Groupon.

Even before the digital companies are slated to go public, they have generated high interest among potential investors. Groupon raised $950 million from several large investment companies after it rejected a $6-billion offer from Google.

Goldman Sachs had gone one step ahead and invested $500 million in Facebook and has so far raised $1 billion. However, GS limited investments, excluding US investors, to avoid a possible problem with U.S. securities regulations.

This Tuesday, JPMorgan is scheduled to hold its yearly investor conference to review its businesses and plans for the next year.

March 24, 2008 was the first day of work at Facebook for ex-Google executive Sheryl Sandberg, has arrived at the social networking company’s Palo Alto HQ to take up the job of COO.

At Google, Sandberg was the vice president, Global Online Sales and Operations, a major post in which she ran a large swath of the search giant’s ad operations.

Sandberg was responsible for online sales of Google’s ad and publishing products, bringing experience Facebook sorely needs. Previously, she was also the chief of staff at the Treasury Department in the Clinton administration.

At Facebook, Sandberg will oversee a large part of the company, including all sales, human resources, marketing and communications, and business development.

Her job description essentially makes her #2 to Facebook Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg, although it’s not characterized that way by him or the company.

But BoomTown is declaring it so, and plans to spend the first week of Sandberg’s tenure making suggestions on what she should get cracking on now.

No surprise, we have a million of them, well beyond our longtime complaint that third-party widgets on the site are juvenile (news flash–they still are!).

And even though our concerns are not all in Sandberg’s purview, we’re directing our suggestions her way, because, well, just because! (In actuality, the CFO and the technology and product divisions will report directly to Zuckerberg.)

Nonetheless, we want some action, including everything from improving the dreadful mail on Facebook, to giving users more ability to sort friends, to allowing data portability to figuring out a way to jack up Facebook’s ad business in a truly significant way.

Yes, that.

Today, though, we’ll give Sandberg time to move in to her office and unpack her boxes, and try to figure out where to eat now that the glories of the Google cafeteria are no longer available to her (that’s right, no more organic soy lattes or hand-fed, massaged-daily roast chicken for you!).

But tomorrow, as Scarlett O’Hara said, is another day.
